Test Your Data at Ocarina Networks!

Ocarina routinely accepts data sets from prospective customers for testing of the Ocarina ECOsystem. Testing will tell customers exactly what they can expect in terms of compression rates. Data may be submitted using a variety of methods:

• Send a small data set via email (e.g. <50MB)
• Use FTP or SCP to submit a moderate sized data-set
• Send in a larger data set via USB storage device or disk drive

Data sets received by Ocarina will be optimized using an Ocarina optimizer utilizing current in-production optimization algorithms. Results will be delivered back to the customer via the local Ocarina Sales Representative along with a basic ROI projection.

The results of the savings will typically indicate the results of compression, but not de-duplication. This is because the benefits of de-duplication are only apparent once a meaningfully large data set (with redundant data) has been analyzed. Samples received for processing typically are not large enough for meaningful dedupe results. Therefore, actual optimization rates in production deployments will be better than these test results.

Customers sending in data should include the their contact information and as much background data as possible.

• Name, title, company name, division
• Physical address, email, phone
• A general description of the data (e.g. "home shares file mix")
• The vendor and model of your storage and number of Terabytes of data volume in production
